Random Thought: Blanche de Bruxelles - Drink it

I'm an American guy, blogging about German soccer (among other things), who thoroughly enjoys this Belgian beer, Blanche de Bruxelles (@BlanchedeBxl ). If you can find this nectar of the gods, get it...drink it...and you will be happy. I am not a hoppy beer fan, so this is right up my alley.

It's a white beer that goes by the street name of Mannekin Pis (named after the statue, not the taste). I first found this beer during a liquid lunch while working for [Name Removed to Protect the Innocent] in the Bucks County, PA town of Yardley. During said lunch (that extended way into dinner then way into the night....life before kids had activities = the best!), my co-worker and I tried the beer just based on the fact it was written as "Mannekin Pis" on the draft beer chalk board (underrated) at Isaac Newton's in Newtown, PA.

I've been a staunch supporter ever since. It's not easy to find. You can sometimes get this on tap at bar and they will drop an orange in it (which is good as it brings out he coriander), but it's difficult to find in general. Some local distributors in Delco/Chesco have it at times, so I try to scoop it up. The downside, is that it's expensive. Like, most people are going to take a look at the price tag and walk-type expensive. I suck it up and get a couple cases a year to treat myself.

It's definitely not the type of beer you want to pound if you are going to be out acting like a jackass all day, I staunchly support Miller Lite as my drink of choice for any event that calls for me to go out and be a jackass all day), but if you are looking to just hang out, enjoy a beer's taste, and drink a few casually it's perfect. Basically, when I want to act like a sophisticated grown up (not often) - this is my beer.
