Jacob Bruun Larsen is making an impact for Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund has long been know as a club that can develop and cultivate young talent. On this season's squad alone, players such as Jadon Sancho (18), Mahmoud Dahoud (22), Abdou Diallo (22) and Christian Pulisic (20, prior to his injury anyway) among others are getting the opportunity to put their respective talent on display.

One player who has caught our eye is Denmark's Jacob Bruun Larsen. Bruun Larsen is a 20-year old forward, who plays mostly on the wing and has been fantastic for BVB this season. With two goals and one assist in three Bundesliga games, along with one goal and one assist in his Champions League debut against Monaco, Bruun Larsen has burst on to the scene as one of the most promising players in Germany this season.

Things were not always so great for Bruun Larsen, however.

Unable to convince Peter Bosz and Peter Stöger of his quality last season, Bruun Larsen could not manage to secure consistent field time. The situation became worse when he injured his knee in late November. The Dane then spent the second half of 2018 season on loan with VfB Stuttgart and was held scoreless in four Bundesliga appearances (104 minutes) with Die Schwaben.

That seems like forever ago now though, as Bruun Larsen is living up to the lofty potential he displayed in Bundesliga West where he scored 29 goals in 42 games. As Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc told Eurosport.de:

"We trust him a similar development that have already taken other former A-teens such as Pulisic or Passlack."

In the Dortmund environment, Bruun Larsen is lucky to be surrounded by many players going through the same type of development as him, including his good friend Pulisic. Bruun Larsen takes great pride in his friendship with Pulisic and seeks to emulate his peer's launch into stardom as told to Eurosport.de:

"I'm proud of him, Christian lives his dream, and although we're the same age, I can learn a lot from him."

Like Pulisic, success has drawn the interest of potential suitors to the talented Dane. Bruun Larsen, however, is not letting his newly found first team success get to his head. In fact, the youngster seems more grounded than ever:

" I want to play here, that's my goal, there are no considerations to leave BVB this summer."
