Borussia Dortmund appears set to make an offer for Maximilian Eggestein

Per a report from SportBild, Borussia Dortmund is set to make an offer on Werder Bremen's 22-year-old central midfielder Maximilian Eggestein.

Eggestein is considered on of Werder Bremen's foundational players and is widely thought of as a potential next generation midfield candidate for Die Mannschaft. Per SportBild, no formal offer or contact has been made between the clubs, but any transaction will allegedly push the transfer record for Die Werderaner.

The current standard for Werder Bremen is the €27m sale of Diego to Juventus. Eggestein is expected to draw as much as €30m from Werder Bremen:

Will Borussia Dortmund make Maximilian Eggestein (22) record for Werder Bremen? Two weeks ago, SPORTBILD reported that BVB has the Bremer midfielder on the shopping list. Now it should have given the first contact. This is reported by the "Ruhr Nachrichten." According to the report, the threshold of Bremen for the Under-21 international is 30 million euros. A transfer is therefore aimed for summer 2019. According to SPORTBILD information, there are currently no concrete negotiations between BVB and Eggestein.

Werder wants to extend the contract with the native Hanoverian until 2020 as soon as possible, but so far without success. Should Eggestein really change to Dortmund for 30 million euros in the summer, this would be a record transfer.

Eggestein, of course, plays with his brother Johannes at Werder Bremen. Johannes is just 20-years-old and has a bright future ahead of him as well.
