Bayern Munich has signed Lucas Hernandez

It's been rumored for quite a while, but Bayern Munich has made it official: Atletico Madrid defender and French Word Cup winner Lucas Hernandez will be heading to Bavaria. Per the official news, Bayern has signed Hernandez to a five-year deal. Rumors point to an annual salary of €13.5 for the versatile defensive player.

Bayern has paid an astounding €80M for Hernandez to Atletico Madrid, who is expected to primarily compete for time at center back, while also providing Niko Kovac depth at left back behind David Alaba. The move represents yet another example that the guard is changing in Munich.

With the arrival of Hernandez and also that of Benjamin Pavard in July, Bayern has some interesting decisions to make regarding its center backs. Mats Hummels and Jerome Boateng have both shown their class and ability this season, while Niklas Sule looks like the future defensive foundation piece in Bavaria.

In addition, Chris Richards and Lars Lukas Mai look to be very solid prospects in the Bayern youth ranks. Surely, there will be some additional roster movement and perhaps even some creative lineups in the making for Kovac as the club looks to the 2019/2020 season.
